I'm currently trying to lighten some areas of brown spots on my skin and I'm torn between either going for a natural cocktail of honey and lemon juice _or_ a hydroquinoine skin cream.
I'm aware of the risks involved in using both, but I was wondering which of the two you think would render the quickest results.
I have about 9 days left before an event where I'm going to have to keep my arms bare and I would rather they didn't look so bad by then.
PS: Makeup isn't an option! :)
What is the fastest action natural or commercial skin lightening product?
try the diana stalder products,,, cheaper price and very affordable...

Reply:Turmeric powder, lemon juice, honey, curd can be used to make your skin fair. More home remedies available at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/fairskin.htm...
Reply:a good skin lightening product does NOT contain hydroquinone, mercury or steroids.. plus it should be potent unlike most commercial products out there.. when you start using skin lighteners, use a high spf (50 or better) sunscreen too to prevent further darkening and sun damage..
you only have 9 days left... the skin lightening process involves exfoliation/peeling of the outermost skin layer.. you should have started this a month ago yet.. when skin peels, a fresher lightened layer resurfaces.. again, make sure you wear sunscreen when outdoors..
here's a good source for SAFE and POTENT skin lighteners -

If i want to use a skin lightening cream in a small area...?
will it lighten the skin that is already light and make it look weird? how do i avoid that?
If i want to use a skin lightening cream in a small area...?
just make sure that you get it in the area that you need it and not anywhere else.
Reply:no. most vanishing creams only target the dark areas.

Pls wat is e most effective skin lightening cream around? Do i have to mix diff creams if yes how do i do it?
The lightening products i am asking about are used to change ones complexion from dark-skinned to a more lighter and brighter complexion. Am not talking about cosmetic or plastic surgery.
Pls wat is e most effective skin lightening cream around? Do i have to mix diff creams if yes how do i do it?
the only one i have found is by Dr. Michelle Copeland its called PIGMENT FORMULA with Arbutin, Licorice, and Thyme. it was 70 or 80 dollars at Target for 2 fl oz. its working very well for me
Reply:I am very sorry but i don't know anything about these type products. You should go to a professional estetician. You could even go to a beauty college that teaches esthetics you can get a cheaper rate. Also most of the time students are very particular about their doing because they are just learning. and are excited about what their learning.
Reply:None, to my knowledge.
Years ago there was testing on penal volunteers using X-Ray
and while some portions of dark skin did turn much lighter the effects were never uniform and the radiation exposure made some participants lose their scalp hair.
Take more pride with what you are born with. If somebody
fails to appreciate tint, 'bye-bye', and go find the one who will.

If anyone has tried any products that work and have not caused any nasy side effects please share your knowledge.
Does anyone know what a good skin lightening cream is?
I don't know of any skin lightening cream that is safe but I've heard and tried some home remedies. (I have some tan spots that I would like to make paler) Rubbing lemon on your skin for maybe 5 minutes and rinsing it off with warm water seemed to work for me. It kind of burns but that is normal since lemon is an acidic fruit. I don't think that it damaged the skin. Rubbing slightly sour milk on the dark parts of skin also worked. Use some milk that's a few days after the experation date and rub it on your skin for about 10 minutes. Rinse well with warm water. Neither of these work after one try so in order to see some lighter skin, they will have to be done about 2 to 3 times a week. Everybody's skin is different so I don't know if these will work for your daughter but I hope that they do. You can find more home remedies if you google it.
Reply:Monistat vaginal cream, I use it on my teeth and face all the time.

1) Amazing bath cream:
In morning times, before and after facing the sun take this bath cream...This will surely eliminate the effects of sun while going out and also after returning home.
take 2 spoons of wheat flour/ oat meal/ besan powder and mix it with sour curd/ yogurt.apply it all over body ..have a scrub bath. use it instead of soap.
2)always apply sunscreen creams of spf greater than 15 before going out in day times.
3)Night whitening agent:
mix 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. This is a very good skin whitener.
u can safely preserve it in a bottle.
Before going to bed ,take a bath with soap, pat dry with warm towel.and apply this mixture all over body and face.then go to sleep.
i m sure within one or two days you will see your skin has become lighten,.
4)consume pomgranate juice, vit A,C,Berries .. as they may brighten the skin.
5)stay calm and believe ---Every one is God's creation only.If u hate a dark skinned person then its like hating a God's creation.its a sin.Every one is equal in God's eyes.
Enjoy life..stay beautiful in body and soul.
Reply:why would you want your skin lighter
Reply:Rubbing a lemon orver spot you want to lighten works. But make sure it's dry!
Or... you could just make a scrub so that old skin will be removed and a new layer of skin will open up. Most likely it will be lighter than your current skin. All you do it mix baking soda, sugar, and lemon juice.
Hope it helps!
Reply:I dont know any that do work, but I tried lemons and they made my face red.
Reply:i had the same exact problem. I use the (real) microdermabrasion. there are a lot of fake products. there is a pharmaceutical brand that has micro aluminum oxide crystals in it by beauticontrol. their website is www.beauticontol.com and my consultants number is 1211377. you need it to enter the website. hope you enjoy it as much as i do.
Reply:Home Remedies:
Here are some simple home remedies that you can do to lighten the skin tone and get a lighter complexion. However, they must be done regularly and best results are obtained if they are inculcated as a part of daily routine.
Mix 1 tsp of milk powder, 1 tsp of honey, 1 tsp of lemon juice, and ½ tsp of almond oil. Apply on face and wash off after 10-15 minutes. This pack helps bring shine to the skin and also removes tan.
Mix oatmeal with curd and tomato juice and apply on the face. Keep it on for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. It helps remove the tan and lightens the skin.
Place sliced raw potato on the face. It helps reduce blemishes and other marks.
Applying turmeric powder along with lime juice removes the tan. Lime juice is a natural bleach.
Dried orange peels mixed with curd also help reduce blemishes and scars. Wash off this mixture with cold water after 15 minutes.
Soak 4 almonds overnight. Grind into a fine paste using milk. Apply on face and neck and leave it overnight. Wash with cold water in the morning. Do this daily for 15 days, followed by twice a week.
A tbsp of gram flour mixed with 2 tsp of raw milk and 2-3 drops of lime juice works well for lightening dark skin. Apply this mixture and leave it for 15 minutes before washing off. Repeat for 4 weeks and follow up with once a week.
Apply a paste of fresh ground mint leaves and leave it for about 20 minutes. Wash with cold water, continue for 15 days.
Apply a mixture of grated tomato with 2-3 drops of lime juice on the face. Leave it for 20 minutes before washing off. Do this twice a day for 15-20 days for best results.
Balanced Diet
Although there are no particular foods that will lighten your skin instantly, a balanced diet definitely helps by giving your skin a healthy glow. Drinking an optimum amount of water hydrates your skin and keeps it blemish free. Some recommendations regarding diet are as follows –
Avoid excessive consumption of heavy and oily foods.
Incorporate whole cereals, pulses, fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.
Drink at least 4-5 liters of water every day. Water washes out the toxins from the body.

Why do asians use skin lightening creams??
i'm asian myself and i think it looks awful!!! my skin is olive and once this moisturiser somehow turned my skin lighter into this sickening greenish-sallow colour. i like the bronzed look much better!!! so why the hell would asians lighten their skin???
Why do asians use skin lightening creams??
I'm third generation Japanese American.
My grandmother told me that it has to do with classification of beauty by social class identification. Porcelain skin was thought to be of the upper crust society, which is why you see all these rice powders, geisha makeup, and whiteish foundation products. Sloughing with azuki beans to 'erase' the darker skin was a ritual as those who were darker toned were thought to be 'worker bees' of the peasant nature, having to work out in the hot sun in the rice fields, thus, thought to be of lower class society. Those with lighter skin, were thought to be well-to-do, not working outside.
However, when my grandmother came to America, she saw that it didn't matter where you came from, everyone became a 'peasant' status here - Chinese with the railroads, Japanese workers with the farms.
My mother (born here) had to work in the farms, and of course, got darker and darker as did her siblings. Her mother (my grandmother) kept telling her to 'scrub away' the dark, but it didn't work obviously.
Personally, I agree with you, I prefer the bronzed look much better - that leaning more toward a Hawaiian/Polynesian look.
Reply:Personal preference. But yes, if i were asian i would not lighten my skin. it looks like michael jackson!
Reply:my wife is japanese...she often tells me this is because some ppl wish to have more of a "western" appearance, and the supposed "yellow skin" will go away....and somehow look normal...
i guess we are born like we are....love it!!
Reply:well sometimes people want something they dont have like dark coloured wanted light colored skin, brunettes wanna be blondes, short people wanna be taller and so on......
Reply:It's the different values system and what is considered beautiful in a different cultures.
Asians - especially those in the far east.. Japan and China, considered white skin to be beautiful. People with darker skin are usually manual labourers or those who work outside and their skin are generally more olive or darker. Woman with whiter skin are therefore considered delicate and "pure"
Chillout! It's just a different view on things.
Reply:Who does that? I've never heard of that before lol my mom's side of the family is all Chinese and I've never seen anyone of them use skin lightening cream, sounds crazy and stupid lol
Reply:I have no idea but I want to know too! I work in a pharmacy and the other day this young asian lady came in and asked for Skin Doctor's Skin lightening cream and asked if it would make her as white as me. I'm porcelain pale and I was like, "ah, do you really want see-through skin?????" and she was obsessed with her wrinkles (there were no wrinkles anywhere on her face) and the dark circles under her eyes (ah... huh???). It was so weird.
Reply:same as why some people become racists.
Reply:Hi. I'm Asian too and my skin color falls between the range of caramel-tan. Though its nowhere near white, i love it! however, i think other people are still stuck with the notion that white (and only white) is beautiful..too bad but there... ;p
